Family sharing and messages in Paprika for Windows.
Paprika 4 makes it easy to cook together. You can share your entire collection with the people in your household using family sharing, or send individual recipes and cookbooks to any Paprika user with in-app messages.
Both features live in the Sharing section in the Main Menu: your family is displayed in the Family pane on the left, and your messages are displayed on the right.
Family Sharing
Family sharing lets everyone in your household use the same recipe collection with their own Paprika account. Each family member gets their own login, and everyone's changes sync to the shared collection — so anyone can add a recipe, check off groceries at the store, or plan the week's meals.
The family owner manages the family and its subscription. Family members do not need to purchase their own subscription.
A family can have up to 5 members in total, including the owner.
Inviting Family Members Premium
To invite someone to your family, go to the Sharing section and press the button in the Family pane's toolbar. Enter the email address of the person you would like to invite and press Invite.
The invited person will receive an email with instructions for joining your family. Once they accept, they'll appear in your family member list and can log in with their own account.
Managing Family Members
The Family pane displays all of your family member accounts, along with the status of any pending invitations. The family owner is marked with an Owner badge, and a member without a name is shown by their email address. As the family owner, you can right-click a pending invitation to:
Resend the invitation if it wasn't received.
Cancel the invitation.
Note
Only the family owner can invite or remove members.
Messages Premium
You can send recipes — or entire cookbooks — directly to other Paprika users with in-app messages. It's the easiest way to pass along a favorite recipe to a friend who also uses Paprika.
Your messages are displayed in the Messages pane of the Sharing section.
Note
You must be logged into a Paprika account to send and receive in-app messages.
Sending Recipes & Cookbooks
To send a recipe, open it and choose Message from the menu. You can also select one (or more) recipes in the recipes list, then right-click and choose Message. Enter the recipient's Paprika account email address in the To field — Paprika will suggest people you have messaged before — optionally add a short message, and press Send.
To send an entire cookbook, use the share action described in Sharing a Cookbook. Recipients receive every recipe it contains, including photos.
Receiving & Importing Recipes
When someone sends you a recipe, it appears in the Messages pane of the Sharing section. Open the message to preview the recipes it contains, then press Import to add them to your collection.
If someone sends you an entire cookbook, Paprika will ask you to confirm before importing it.
Checking for New Messages
New messages are fetched when Paprika syncs. If you are expecting a message, press the button in the Messages pane's toolbar to check for new messages immediately.
Note
Unlike the mobile versions of Paprika, the Windows version does not display system notifications when a new message arrives.
