Now that Paprika 2.0 is out on iOS, some of you have been wondering “what’s next”?

We are now working hard to bring both the Mac versions and Android versions of Paprika up to date, with the same great features we just added to the iOS version.

Version 2.0 took us quite a bit longer to finish compared to most of our updates, partially because we added so many features, and partially because iOS 7 got announced midway through our development and we had to update our plans accordingly.

Instead of doing one huge update for the Mac and Android versions, we are going to break these updates into smaller chunks and release them as a series of smaller updates over the next few months.

After many months of hard work, Paprika 2.0 has been released on iPhone and iPad!

You can read the full list of changes on iTunes (iPad, iPhone), but here are the highlights.

What’s New in 2.0.0

Paprika has been fully updated for iOS 7, and the user interface now sports a clean, functional design. We have updated the typography and contrast to make each screen easier to read, and our lovely icon has been refreshed with a more fitting look.

Paprika Cloud Sync has been overhauled and optimized to sync much more frequently and efficiently. It will now push changes in real-time between your devices, and sends only the changes made since your last sync. The net effect is that syncing is now even more seamless than before.

** Categories **

  • You can now organize categories into groups of subcategories!
  • You can now sort any category by Star Rating or Most Recent.

** Recipes **

  • To make it easier to cook multiple recipes at the same time, you can now pin active recipes to easily switch between them.
  • Timers are now automatically detected in your directions. Simply tap on one to start.
  • AirDrop support has been added for sharing recipes.
  • You can now customize recipe printing with: print sizes (full page, 4x6 index cards, 3x5 index cards), print margins, font sizes, and disable the photo.
  • The ingredients/directions shortcut bar is now customizable and supports autocompletion of numbers, quantities, and ingredients.

** Browser **

  • Clipboard tools have been added to the iPhone!
  • We’ve also redesigned the clipboard tools to make them easier to use.

** Grocery List **

  • Autocompletion is now enabled for grocery list items.
  • You can export your grocery list to Reminders.
  • When the grocery list has combined similar ingredients, you can tap on the item to see the originals.
  • A pantry section has been added that allows you to record common ingredients like salt, sugar, flour, etc. Pantry items are automatically unchecked when you add a recipe to your grocery list.

** Meal Planner **

  • The meal planner has been redesigned with two new views: a montly view and a weekly view.
  • You can export your meals to iCal.
  • A menu section has been added that allows you to create reusable menus from your favorite meals.

In addition to phone support, this update also includes HDPI artwork for users that own high resolution tablets or phones, and several bug fixes.

We have also fixed a problem with the browser clipboard tools under Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). Jelly Bean slightly changes the way that selection works under the Android browser, which means that the clipboard tools will now work slightly differently.

Android Text Selection Bar (Paprika for Android v1.1.0)

After selecting text, you’ll first have to press Copy in the text selection bar to copy it to clipboard, and then you can press one of the Name, Ingredients, Directions, etc. buttons to paste into the desired field.
